This blog is (or, will be) about my forays into perma-culture, sustainable living, green technologies, etc. To date, I've already set up my first rainwater harvesting system and I'll add an article about it, including pictures, soon. I've also built a compost bin and began composting with it about six months ago. Still a bit early, I think to use its product, but, like the rainwater system, I'll post pictures of it, along with notes on its construction, later.
My wife and I bought a home in the Dandenong Ranges a little over a year ago that includes a bit over an acre of land on a hillside that already had several established ornamental gardens, a vegetable garden, a workshop, and a house with a roof large enough to act as a substantial rainwater collector. Our goal is to further develop our home into the private little paradise we've always dreamed of. For my part, I've had an interest in sustainable living for many years, and our home can become a sort of laboratory where I can learn about and experiment with green living.
So, this is really more my notebook on what I plan to do and how (or if) I wound up doing it. It's really a sort of inner dialog, but I find those conversations make a bit more sense when I stop to write them down. So much the better if anyone finds something useful in what I've learned in the process.
Cheers,
SS
